Transformation of Sentences
Transformation of sentences means changing one type of sentence into another type without changing its meaning.
Affirmative to Negative
To transform sentences from affirmative to negative, we use negative words or expressions like "not", "no", "none", "nothing", "nobody", "nowhere", "never", "nor", "neither----nor", "no sooner----than", etc.

1. Use 'not' after & 'antonym' (opposite word). | Man is mortal. I like my school. | Man is not immortal. I do not dislike my school. |
2. Only + Person | Only father can help us. Only the brave deserve the fair. | None but father can help us. None but the brave deserve the fair. |
3. Only + Thing | Only the moon was visible. The writer ate only mutton. | Nothing but the moon was visible. The writer ate nothing but mutton. |
4. Only + Number | I need only 100 taka. She is only 5 years old. | I need not more than 10 taka. She is not more than 5 years old. |
5. Alone | God alone can help us. Ali was alone in the field. | None but God can help us. None but Ali was in the field. |
6. Must | I must do it now. She must come. | I cannot but do it now. She cannot but come. |
7. Every | Every mother loves her child. Every man likes flowers. | There is no mother but loves her child. There is no man but likes flowers. |
8. Both …. and | Both you and your brothers are guilty. I like both reading and writing. | Not only you but also your brothers are guilty. I like not only reading but also writing. |
9. As soon as | As soon as the thief saw the police, he ran away. As soon as he reached home, it began to rain. | No sooner had the thief seen the police than he ran away. No sooner had he reached home than it began to rain. |
10. Too….to | The man is too weak to walk. He is too lazy to work hard. | The man is so weak that he cannot walk. He is so lazy that he cannot work hard. |
11. Degree | Dhaka is older than Khulna. Shampa is the best girl of the class. | Khulna is not as old as Dhaka. No other girl of the class is as good as Shampa. |
12. If | If you work hard, you will prosper in life. | If you do not work hard, you will not prosper in life. Unless you work hard, you will not prosper in life. |
Assertive to Interrogative

ASSERTIVE TO IMPERATIVE
