The Wolf and the Lamb

It was a summer day. A wolf became very thirsty. It went to a nearby stream to drink water. When the wolf came to the stream, it saw a little lamb drinking water there.

The wolf wanted to eat the lamb. So it made a false excuse. It said, “Why are you making my water dirty?”

The lamb said, “Sir, I am standing below you. The water is flowing from you to me. So I cannot make your water dirty.”

The wolf became angry. It said, “You spoke against me last year.”

The lamb said, “Sir, I was not born then.”

But the cruel wolf did not listen. It jumped on the lamb and killed it.


Copy 2: 150–200 Words

The wolf did not like this answer. It said, “Last year you spoke badly about me.” The lamb replied, “Sir, I am very young. I was not born last year.”

Then the wolf said, “Then your father spoke badly about me.” The lamb began to tremble. It said, “Sir, I know nothing about that.”

But the cruel wolf did not want the truth. It wanted only to eat the lamb. So it jumped on the poor lamb and killed it. The story teaches us that a bad person can make any excuse to do wrong.

It was a hot summer day. A wolf became very thirsty. It walked through the forest and looked for water. After some time, it came to a nearby stream. The water was cool and clear. The wolf bent down to drink.

At that time, the wolf saw a little lamb at the lower side of the stream. The lamb was also drinking water. It was quiet and gentle. The wolf was hungry, so it wanted to eat the lamb. But it wanted to give a reason for its cruel act.

The wolf shouted, “You bad lamb! Why are you making my water dirty?” The lamb became very afraid. It said politely, “Sir, please do not be angry. You are standing above me, and I am standing below you. The water is flowing from you to me. So I cannot make your water dirty.”

The wolf understood that the lamb was right. But it did not stop. It said, “Last year you spoke badly about me.” The lamb replied, “Sir, I was not even born last year. How could I speak against you?”

The wolf became more angry. It said, “Then your father spoke badly about me.” The lamb said, “Sir, I do not know anything about that. I have done no wrong.”

But the wolf did not care about truth. It wanted to eat the lamb from the beginning. So it jumped on the poor lamb and killed it. The lamb could not save itself.

The story teaches us that cruel people do not need a true reason to do wrong. They often make false excuses to hurt the weak.
