One morning, he said to his wife, “This goose lays only one golden egg every day. There must be many golden eggs inside its body. If I cut it open, I can get all the eggs at once.” His wife was shocked. She said, “Please do not do that. The goose is our good fortune. We should wait and be thankful.” But the man did not listen.
He took a knife and killed the goose. Then he cut it open. But he found no golden eggs inside. The goose was dead, and there would be no more golden eggs.
The man sat down and cried. He understood his mistake too late. Because of his greed, he lost his wonderful goose and his future wealth. The story teaches us that greed can destroy everything.
