My dear A, 

I have received your sweet note just now. In it, you have described your favourite game in detail and have wanted to know about mine. I am now writing to you about it.

Dear friend, you have mentioned that your favourite game is football. But I like cricket most. There are many reasons why I like cricket. Cricket is my most favourite game. Cricket is an outdoor game. It is played between two or more teams. It needs some wooden bats, bowls, stumps, bails, pads, gloves, helmets etc. are necessary to play this game. In cricket, one team bats and the other team bowls. It is decided through a toss. The captain who wins the toss can choose either fielding or bating first. The bowler bowls and the batsman hits the ball and runs between the wickets. The fielders obstruct the ball and try to hit the stumps. After hitting the ball, if the batsmen change their position once, one run is scored. Thus, if they change their position twice, thrice or four-times, two, three or four runs are scored. If the ball crosses or touches the boundary line rolling on the ground, four runs are made. But if the ball goes over the boundary lines without touching the ground, six runs are scored. On the other hand, a batsman may be out in many ways, such as, caught out, bowled out, run out, stumped out, L.B.W., hit wicket, etc. The two teams have to bat and bowl by turns. The team which scores more runs wins the game.

I have received your letter just now. In it you have wanted to know about the qualities of a good friend. I am now writing to you about it.

A good friend is a blessing on earth. She possesses many good qualities. First, a good friend is a well-wisher to her friend. She stands by her in weal and woe. She never becomes a fair-weather friend. All the relatives of a person may cut relationship with her when she falls in troubles. But a good friend never leaves her friend in times of danger. Then, a good friend always helps her friend in all works. She discusses about studies and other matters with her friend and helps her friend in her studies. She also shares her feelings with her friend. She becomes happy at the success of her friend and unhappy at her failure. Next, a good friend is a guide and adviser to her friend. She always helps her friend in taking any decision. If her friend follows the wrong path, she brings her back to the right path. After that, a good friend possesses some good qualities. She is honest, truthful, punctual, industrious and dutiful. At the same time, she avoids all bad qualities like telling lies deceiving others etc. Finally, a good friend is a good critic to her friend. She is never afraid of speaking the truth. She never flatters her friend in any situation.  If her friend does any wrong, she bolds says it to her. But if her friend does something good, she never hesitates to praise her. Thus, a good friend is a constant companion of her friend in her joys and sorrows.

Many days have passed since I got your last letter. Hope you are hale and hearty. But I am shocked to know from our friend that you have no interest in computer. So, I am writing this letter to tell you about the importance to computer.

Dear friend, you must not forget that the present world is the world of computer. It is an age of knowledge and information. We can get any information or send it by using computer. Besides, we can read newspapers, journals and get information about various institutions, companies, their business activities, their goods etc. through computer. Computer has become an inseparable part of all offices now. All government and private offices now use computer to perform their daily activities. Communicating with others, making documents, calculation, printing text, keeping records etc. are performed in the offices through computer. In the bank balance check, money transfer, deposit, withdrawal, etc. are done with the help of computer. Besides, computer is being greatly used in education sector too. The teaching and learning activities have now become completely dependent on laptop and projector. Computer is also being used in the publication sectors, in medical treatment, in agriculture, in communication system and all other sectors. So, our success in life depends on our skills in computer.

My dear A, 

I have received your sweet note just now. In it you have given a description of you hobby in details and have wanted to know about mine. I am now writing to you about it.

You know hobby is an interesting way to enjoy our leisure. It is very nice that you spend your leisure by stamp collecting. But my hobby is different from yours and it is gardening. My garden is in front of my reading room. I have planted various kinds of flowers there. I work in it during my leisure. I make the soil loose, weed out grass and plant different flowers. Sometimes I water them. I have put a strong fence around the garden so that naughty boys and animals cannot do any harm to the plants. You may ask why I have chosen a dirty work like gardening. But I think it is the most suitable hobby for me. Because it refreshes both my body and mind. I forget all sorrows, pains and failures of everyday life when I see the blooming flowers of my garden. Besides, working in the garden is a kind of physical exercise. It improves my health and increases my appetite. Moreover, I grow some vegetables in my garden, and it saves a lot of family expenses. Thus, my hobby helps me in many ways.

My dear A, 

I have received your sweet note just now. In it you have mentioned that you have never visited a village and expressed you desire to know about a rural home. I am now writing to you about it.

A rural home is very poor to look at. It is usually made of bamboo, straw and mud. It is built on a raised platform of mud. A rural home is generally four-sheded. The structure of the roof is made of bamboo or wood. Tree trunks or bamboo posts support the roof. Straw is used to cover the roof. The walls of the house are made of bamboo slates or clay. Usually, a village home has one room. But some big houses have two or three rooms. There is always a varanda at the front side of the house. But in some houses, there may be varandas in two, three or even four sides of a house. It has only a few windows. There is no drawing or dining room in a rural home. But there is always a kitchen very near to the house. There is always a yard in front of every rural home. It may be small or large. Very often different types of flower plants and other plants are planted around a house to increase its beauty. In a word, a rural home is made with the simple easily available instruments of nature.

My dear A,

In my last letter I informed you that I, with some of the students of our class, would visit a smithy soon. In reply you wanted to know about my experience of visiting the smithy. I am now writing to you about it.

Last Sunday, after school, our Agricultural Teacher, Mr. Rahman took some of us to a smithy. We went there to make some agricultural tools for making a school garden. The smithy was not far away from our school. So, we went there on foot. When we reached near the smithy, we heard some strange noise. Mr. Rahman pointed to a small hut and told us to look at the hut. It was the smithy. We walked up to the smithy and looked in. Inside the hut we saw two blacksmiths. They were mighty men, and their arms and muscles were as strong as iron bands. Their hair was crisp, black and long. They were working together in front of their forge. There we also saw a young boy of about our own age. He was an apprentice. He was helping the two blacksmiths in their work. He was pulling a small metal chain. When he pulled it, the bellows blew. We saw the blacksmiths making different tools. Their hammers went on making the sound ‘bang! bang! bang!’ And we saw bright burning sparks flying up in the air. Then our teacher asked them to make three spades and four hoes for us. They agreed to make it within a few days. Then we came back home with a new experience.
