Narration Change এর 6টি step:

  • Step 1: Quotation mark বাদ দাও
  • Step 2: Reporting verb change করো
  • Step 3: that যোগ করো
  • Step 4: Pronoun change করো
  • Step 5: Tense change করো
  • Step 6: Time/place change করো

প্রথম তিনটি শিখেছি। আজকে Step 4: Pronoun change শিখবো। 

এই sentence-টা দেখো:

  • Father said to me, “I will help you.”

এবার ভালো করে ভাবো।

এখানে “I” কে

  • এটি Father।

এখানে “you” কে

  • এটি me।

তাহলে direct থেকে indirect করার সময় একই pronoun রাখা যাবে না। Meaning অনুযায়ী change করতে হবে।

এই কাজটাকেই pronoun change বলে।

Pronoun Change কেন Important

অনেক student quotation mark বাদ দিতে পারে, that বসাতে পারে, কিন্তু pronoun change-এ ভুল করে।

এই ভুল sentence-টা দেখো:

  • Father said to me that I would help you.

এটি ভুল। কারণ:

  • “I” এখানে speaker-কে ঠিকভাবে দেখাচ্ছে না
  • “you” listener অনুযায়ী change হয়নি

Correct sentence:

  • Father told me that he would help me.

তাই narration-এ pronoun change খুব important।

Pronoun কী

  • Pronoun হলো এমন word যা noun-এর জায়গায় বসে।

Examples:

  • I
  • we
  • you
  • he
  • she
  • they

Narration-এ এই pronoun-গুলো অনেক সময় change হয়।

Narration-এ Pronoun-এর তিনটি Group

Narration-এর জন্য আমরা pronoun-কে সাধারণত তিন ভাগে দেখি:

  1. First person
  2. Second person
  3. Third person

এখন একে একে এগুলো বুঝি।

First Person Pronouns

First person pronoun হলো:

  • I, me, my, mine, myself
  • we, us, our, ours, ourselves

Rule:

  • First person speaker অনুযায়ী change হয়।

সহজ idea:

  • আগে speaker খুঁজে বের করো। তারপর first person-কে speaker অনুযায়ী change করো।

Example 1

Direct:

  • Rafi said, “I am tired.”

Speaker কে? 

  • Rafi

তাই “I” মানে Rafi।

Indirect:

  • Rafi said that he was tired.

এখানে:

  • I = he

Example 2

Direct:

  • Mina said, “I like flowers.”

Speaker:

  • Mina

Indirect:

  • Mina said that she liked flowers.

এখানে:

  • I = she

Example 3

Direct:

  • The boys said, “We are ready.”

Speaker:

  • The boys

Indirect:

  • The boys said that they were ready.

এখানে:

  • We = they

তাই মনে রাখো:

  • First person follows the speaker.

Second Person Pronouns

Second person pronoun হলো:

  • you, your, yours, yourself, yourselves

Rule:

  • Second person listener অনুযায়ী change হয়।

সহজ idea:

  • কাকে বলা হচ্ছে সেটা খুঁজে বের করো। তারপর second person-কে listener অনুযায়ী change করো।

Example 1

Direct:

  • Father said to me, “You are a good boy.”

Listener কে

  • me

তাই “you” মানে me।

Indirect:

  • Father told me that I was a good boy.

এখানে:

  • you = I

Example 2

Direct:

  • The teacher said to Rina, “You are very careful.”

Listener:

  • Rina

Indirect:

  • The teacher told Rina that she was very careful.

এখানে:

  • you = she

Example 3

Direct:

  • Mother said to us, “You should work hard.”

Listener:

  • us

Indirect:

  • Mother told us that we should work hard.

এখানে:

  • you = we

তাই মনে রাখো:

  • Second person follows the listener.

Third Person Pronouns

Third person pronoun হলো:

  • he, him, his, himself
  • she, her, hers, herself
  • they, them, their, theirs, themselves

Rule:

  • Third person সাধারণত change হয় না।

সহজ idea:

  • যদি pronoun আগেই অন্য কাউকে বা অন্য কিছু বোঝায়, তাহলে এটি সাধারণত একই থাকে।

Example 1

Direct:

  • Rafi said, “He is my friend.”

Indirect:

  • Rafi said that he was his friend.

Basic narration-এ আমরা সাধারণত বলি:

  • third person pronoun একই থাকে

Example 2

Direct:

  • Mina said, “They are playing.”

Indirect:

  • Mina said that they were playing.

এখানে:

  • they পরিবর্তন হয়নি

Example 3

Direct:

  • The boy said, “She is kind.”

Indirect:

  • The boy said that she was kind.

এখানে:

  • she পরিবর্তন হয়নি

তাই মনে রাখো:

  • Third person usually stays the same.

সবচেয়ে Important Rule

Pronoun change-এর main rule হলো:

  • First person follows the speaker.
  • Second person follows the listener.
  • Third person usually stays the same.

এই rule-টাই সবচেয়ে important।

একটি Sentence Step by Step

এখন একটি sentence ভালোভাবে দেখি।

Sentence:

  • Father said to me, “I will help you.”

Step 1

  • Speaker খুঁজে বের করো।

Speaker:

  • Father

তাই “I” Father-কে বোঝাচ্ছে।

অর্থাৎ:

  • I = he

Step 2

Listener খুঁজে বের করো।

Listener:

  • me

তাই “you” me-কে বোঝাচ্ছে।

অর্থাৎ:

  • you = me

Step 3

Indirect sentence লেখো।

  • Father told me that he would help me.

এটাই correct answer।

Example 1

Direct:

  • She said, “I am happy.”

Speaker:

  • She

Indirect:

  • She said that she was happy.

Explanation:

  • “I” speaker-কে বোঝাচ্ছে, তাই I = she

Example 2

Direct:

  • Karim said to me, “You are my friend.”

Speaker:

  • Karim

Listener:

  • me

Indirect:

  • Karim told me that I was his friend.

Explanation:

  • you becomes I কারণ এটি listener-কে বোঝাচ্ছে
  • my becomes his কারণ এটি speaker-কে বোঝাচ্ছে

Example 3

Direct:

  • Rina said, “We are ready.”

Speaker:

  • Rina and others

Indirect:

  • Rina said that they were ready.

Explanation:

  • we হয়েছে they কারণ এটি speaker group-কে বোঝাচ্ছে

Example 4

Direct:

  • The teacher said to us, “You are good students.”

Listener:

  • us

Indirect:

  • The teacher told us that we were good students.

Explanation:

  • you হয়েছে  we কারণ এটি listener group-কে বোঝাচ্ছে

Example 5

Direct:

  • Mina said, “They are playing outside.”

Indirect:

  • Mina said that they were playing outside.

Explanation:

  • they third person, তাই এটি সাধারণত change হয় না।

Common Mistakes

পরীক্ষার খাতায় আমি এই ভলগুলো বেশি পাইঃ

Mistake 1

  • সব pronoun একইভাবে change করা।
  • এটি ভুল। প্রতিটি pronoun আলাদা rule-এ change হয়।

Mistake 2

  • speaker না খুঁজে first person change করা।
  • এতে ভুল হবে।

Mistake 3

  • listener না খুঁজে second person change করা।
  • এতেও ভুল হবে।

Mistake 4

  • third person অকারণে change করা।
  • Third person সাধারণত change হয় না।

Mistake 5

  • শুধু word দেখে change করা, meaning না দেখা।
  • Narration-এ meaning খুব important।

Quick Revision

  1. Narration-এ pronoun অনেক সময় change হয়।
  2. First person speaker অনুযায়ী change হয়।
  3. Second person listener অনুযায়ী change হয়।
  4. Third person সাধারণত same থাকে।

  1. Rafi said, “I am tired.”
  2. Mina said, “I will come.”
  3. Father said to me, “You are honest.”
  4. The teacher said to Rina, “You are attentive.”
  5. The boys said, “We will win.”
  6. Mother said to us, “You should listen carefully.”
  7. Rafi said, “They are playing.”
  8. The girl said to me, “You know my brother.”

B. সঠিক pronoun বসাও

1. Rina said, “I am busy.”

   Rina said that ______ was busy.

2. Father said to me, “You are brave.”

   Father told me that ______ was brave.

3. The boys said, “We are ready.”

   The boys said that ______ were ready.

4. Mina said, “They are my friends.”

   Mina said that they were ______ friends.

C. সঠিক answer বেছে নাও

1. First person follows the (speaker/ listener/ third person) 

2. Second person follows the (speaker/ listener/ quotation marks)

3. Third person (always changes/ usually stays the same/ always becomes first person)

এখন নিজেকে জিজ্ঞেস করো:

  1. আমি কি sentence থেকে speaker বের করতে পারি
  2. আমি কি listener বের করতে পারি
  3. আমি কি first person ঠিকভাবে change করতে পারি

Homework

  1. নিজে পাঁচটি direct speech sentence লেখো।
  2. একটিতে I থাকবে, একটিতে we থাকবে, একটিতে you থাকবে, আর একটিতে they থাকবে।
  3. তারপর সেগুলো indirect speech-এ change করো।
