---

Why Time and Place Words Change

Look at this sentence:

He said, “I will come today.”

Now imagine he said this yesterday.

If you report it today, “today” is no longer correct.

So we change it:

He said that he would come that day.

So, we change time and place words to match the new situation.

---

Main Idea

When the reporting verb is in the past, time and place words usually change.

Easy idea:

Words showing time and place move according to the situation.
