Direct ও Indirect Speech কী

এই lesson-এ তুমি শিখবে:

Narration কী

আমরা প্রায়ই অন্যের কথা আরেকজনকে বলি।

ধরো, তোমার বন্ধু বলল, “I am tired.”

এখন তুমি এই কথাটা আরেকজনকে বলবে। তুমি দুইভাবে বলতে পারো:

  • He said, “I am tired.”

অথবা

  • He said that he was tired.

দুইটি বাক্যের অর্থ প্রায় একই। কিন্তু গঠন এক নয়। এখান থেকেই narration শেখা শুরু হয়।

Narration কী

Narration মানে হলো একজনের কথা অন্যজনকে বলা বা report করা।

কেউ যা বলেছে, তা আমরা সাধারণত দুইভাবে বলি:

  • Indirectly (Directly Speech)
  • Indirectly (Indirect Speech)

অতএব, narration হলো direct speech ও indirect speech বোঝা এবং একটিকে অন্যটিতে বদলানো।

Direct Speech কী

যখন বক্তার কথা হুবহু বলা হয়, তখন তাকে direct speech বলে।

Example:

  • Rafi said, “I am tired.”
  • Mina said, “I like mangoes.”
  • The teacher said, “Open your book.”

ভালো করে লক্ষ করো:

  • বক্তার কথাগুলো quotation mark-এর মধ্যে আছে।
  • কথাগুলো যেমন বলা হয়েছিল, তেমনই রাখা হয়েছে।

তাই আমরা বলতে পারি:

  • Direct speech-এ speaker-এর exact words থাকে।

Indirect Speech কী

যখন বক্তার একই কথা নিজের ভাষায় বা বদলানো structure-এ বলা হয়, তখন তাকে indirect speech বলে।

Example:

  • Rafi said that he was tired.
  • Mina said that she liked mangoes.
  • The teacher told us to open our books.

এখানে লক্ষ করো:

  • quotation mark নেই
  • অর্থ ঠিক আছে
  • কিন্তু গঠন বদলে গেছে

তাই আমরা বলতে পারি:

  • Indirect speech-এ একই কথা অন্যভাবে বলা হয়।

Direct ও Indirect একসাথে দেখো

Direct: Rafi said, “I am tired.”
Indirect: Rafi said that he was tired.
Direct: Mina said, “I like mangoes.”
Indirect: Mina said that she liked mangoes.
Direct: The boy said, “We are playing.”
Indirect: The boy said that they were playing.

কী কী পার্থক্য দেখলে

এবার পার্থক্যগুলো দেখো:

  • Direct speech-এ quotation mark থাকে।
  • Indirect speech-এ quotation mark থাকে না।
  • Direct speech-এ speaker-এর exact words থাকে।
  • Indirect speech-এ একই meaning অন্যভাবে বলা হয়।

সহজ Rule

  • Direct speech মানে speaker-এর exact words।
  • Indirect speech মানে same idea in another form।

কীভাবে চিনবে

নিজেকে এই প্রশ্নগুলো করো:

1. বাক্যে quotation mark আছে কি

  • থাকলে সাধারণত direct speech।

2. quotation mark ছাড়া speaker-এর কথা বলা হয়েছে কি

  • তাহলে সাধারণত indirect speech।

Examples:

He said, “I am happy.”
এটি direct speech।
He said that he was happy.
এটি indirect speech।
Mother said, “Come here.”
এটি direct speech।
Mother told me to go there.
এটি indirect speech।

Example 1

Direct: She said, “I am busy.”
Indirect: She said that she was busy.

Explanation:

  • প্রথম বাক্যে exact words quotation mark-এর মধ্যে আছে।
  • দ্বিতীয় বাক্যে একই কথার meaning অন্যভাবে বলা হয়েছে।

Example 2

Direct: They said, “We will go.”
Indirect: They said that they would go.

Explanation:

  • অর্থ একই আছে।
  • কিন্তু indirect speech-এ form বদলে গেছে।

Example 3

Direct: Father said, “You are a good boy.”
Indirect: Father said that I was a good boy.

Explanation:

  • এখানে person ও structure বদলেছে, কিন্তু meaning একই আছে।

গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কথা

  • এ পর্যায়ে সব grammar rule একসাথে মুখস্থ করতে হবে না।

এই lesson-এ তোমার কাজ শুধু:

  • Direct speech কী তা বোঝা
  • Indirect speech কী তা বোঝা
  • দুটির পার্থক্য বোঝা

পরের lesson-গুলোতে আমরা rule ধরে ধরে শিখব।

Common Mistakes

ভুল ধারণা 1

  • Direct আর indirect speech-এর meaning পুরো আলাদা।
  • এটা ঠিক নয়। সাধারণত meaning একই থাকে।

ভুল ধারণা 2

  • quotation mark থাকলেও সেটা indirect speech হতে পারে।
  • সাধারণত না। quotation mark থাকলে সেটি direct speech হয়।

ভুল ধারণা 3

  • Indirect speech-এ exact same words থাকে।
  • না। indirect speech-এ form বদলায়।
