Rearranging Sentences

This lesson contains the stories important for getting full marks in SSC exams. This article is equally important for class six, class seven, class eight, class nine and class ten as well.

1. Hatem Tai: Barishal Board – 2025

Long, long ago, there lived a very kind and generous man in Yemen. He was not rich but very hospitable. The name of that man was Hatem Tai. One day, the king gave a dinner. The guest praised the king, but the guests also praised Hatem Tai. People praised him more than their king. So, the king felt happy and proud.

2. Chattogram Board – 2025

Fleming was born in a poor family in Scotland. He was the seventh of eight brothers and sisters. He passed his boyhood with his parents. Fleming was a very regular and attentive student. He was never absent from school up to the age of twelve. At the age of fourteen, he was sent to London for higher study. Penicillin, the life-saving medicine, was discovered by Dr. Alexander Fleming.

3. Cumilla Board – 2025

Sukumar Roy, a famous children’s writer, was born in Kolkata in 1887. His family was originally from Masua in Mymensingh. He passed the Entrance Examination from City School, Kolkata. He did his B.Sc in Chemistry from Presidency College in 1911. Then he went to England to study photography and printing technology. Returning home from England in 1913, he took over his father’s enterprise after his father’s death. His prominent writings are Abol Tabol, Ha-Ya-Ba-Ra-La, Pagla Dashu and Bahurupi. He passed away in 1923 in Kolkata, India.

4. Dhaka Board – 2025

Once young Taimur attacked a province, but unfortunately his soldiers were all killed. Then he disguised himself as a poor traveller and supported himself by begging. One day he became very hungry and could not get anything to eat. He came to a house and asked an old woman to give him something to eat. The old woman felt pity for him and quickly gave Taimur a full dish of food. The food was very hot. He hurriedly dug his fingers right at the middle of the dish, as a result he burnt his fingers.

5. Dinajpur Board – 2025

All of you have heard the name of Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain. She was born in 1880 in the village Pairabond, Rangpur. She was married to Khan Bahadur Sakhawat Hossain in 1898. In 1902, she started her writing career. In 1908, she composed her famous writing named Sultana’s Dream. A tragic moment came to her life in 1909 when her husband died. After five months of her husband’s death, she established a school named Sakhawat Memorial Girls’ High School with five students. This distinguished woman breathed her last in 1932.

6. Jashore Board – 2025

Once there lived a Sultan in a country. He wanted to appoint an honest man as his tax collector. Accordingly, he invited applications and a number of people applied for the job. The applicants were asked to meet the Sultan one by one. They came through a passage where gold coins were kept. When they all arrived, the Sultan asked them to dance. All the applicants blushed and refused to dance except one. Then he found the desired man.

7. Mymensingh Board – 2025

Napoleon, the King of France, was a great hero. One day he was walking along the sea-shore. Suddenly, he noticed a wonderful thing. An English boy was making a small boat. The King asked him why he was making such a small boat. The boy said, “I shall cross the sea and go home.” Hearing this, Napoleon became affectionate to the boy. Then he made all arrangements to send the boy to his mother.

8. Rajshahi Board – 2025

Once Sheikh Saadi was going to Baghdad with a group of rich merchants. The merchants had their goods and a lot of money. They travelled for twelve days without any trouble. On the thirteenth day, a gang of robbers attacked them and took away all the goods and money from the merchants. Then the leader of the robbers came to Saadi and ordered him to give all he had. Sheikh Saadi handed him the bundle of books and the little money he had without any fear. Saadi then said, “I hope that you will make good use of these books.”

9. Sylhet Board – 2025

Sheikh Saadi was a great Persian poet who led a simple life. One day the emperor invited him to his palace. Saadi set out for the palace wearing an ordinary dress and stopped at a courtier’s house on the way to spend the night. The courtier considered him an ordinary person and did not treat him well. Later, Saadi again stopped at the same house on his return journey, but this time he wore a rich dress. The courtier welcomed him warmly and served him delicious food. Instead of eating, Saadi began putting the food into his pockets, saying his dress deserved it. The courtier realized his mistake and apologized.

11. Chattogram Board – 2024

Jibanananda Das was born in a small town of Barishal in 1899. He took his Master’s Degree in English at the age of 22. He lost his job in 1928 for publishing a poem in Parichaya Patrika. In 1930 he joined Ramjash College, Delhi but returned home the next year. The next year he started his teaching career as a professor of English at Kolkata City College. He got an appointment at Brojomohon College, Barishal in 1935. In 1947, when partition was made, he left Bangladesh for India. In 1951, he joined Kharagpur College.

12. Cumilla Board – 2024

Napoleon, the king of France, was a great hero. He won many battles and conquered many countries of Europe. One day, he was walking along the sea-shore. Suddenly, he noticed a wonderful thing. An English boy was making a small boat. The boy was brought before him. The king asked him why he was making such a small boat. The boy said, “I shall cross the sea and go to my home.” 

13. Dhaka Board – 2024

Once upon a time two friends were passing through a forest. They were talking about their love for each other. Suddenly they came across a bear. The first friend climbed up a tree, but the later one could not. Finding no other way, he lay down on the ground and pretended to be dead. The bear came near and smelt his ears, nose and face. Thinking him dead, the bear went away.

14. Dinajpur Board – 2024

Belal was an unemployed youth of an impoverished family. Poverty forced him to look for work. He got a lease of land in his village. Then he joined the training programme of NHC and received training in vegetable cultivation. He applied his new knowledge for growing vegetables. He also started raising hybrid cows for milk and manure. Belal’s lot changed radically. Now he is happy to be a self-sufficient man.

16. Mymensingh Board – 2024

Shamim was an unemployed youth of an impoverished family. Poverty forced him to look for work. He got a lease of land in his village. So, he joined the training in vegetable cultivation. He applied his new knowledge for cultivating vegetables. He also began raising hybrid cows for milk and manure. As a result, his lot changed radically. Now he is a happy, self-sufficient man.

17. Rajshahi Board – 2024

Once there was a king who was very idle. He did not undergo any physical labour and became bulky and inactive. He called in a doctor. The doctor was very wise. He did not prescribe any medicine but advised the king to move a heavy club into the air until he got tired. The king followed the advice and soon became slim and fully cured.

18. Sylhet Board – 2024

A rich man went to a farmer with fifty thousand taka in a bag. The rich man said, “Look, my friend, keep the money and remove your distress.” The farmer dug a hole in his hut and kept the money there. Now a new thought came to his mind. He always thought his money might be stolen. So, he could not devote himself to his work. This thought kept him awake at night. Gradually he realized that he had money but no peace of mind. 

19. Barishal Board – 2020

Once a statue of a goddess was being taken to town on the back of a donkey. On the way, people were showing respect to the statue. Seeing this, the donkey thought people were showing him honour. So, feeling proud, the donkey began to bray in joy and refused to move. The driver became angry and said, “You wretched! Do you think people show you respect? Such a day will never come.” Saying this, he started beating the donkey with his stick.

20. Chattogram Board – 2020

Pasteur was a French scientist. He discovered that many diseases were caused by germs and found cures for several of them. At first, he treated only animals because he did not want to cause harm to humans. He found a mad dog and injected some weak germs of its disease into the blood. The dog was cured. One day a boy named Joseph Meister, bitten by a mad dog, was brought to Pasteur. Pasteur gave him some injections and the boy did not get the disease.

21. Cumilla Board – 2020

The great leader whom we love and admire is Sher-e-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Huq. From childhood, he was a very meritorious boy. His father, Kazi Wazed Ali, was a renowned pleader in the Barishal bar. One day the boy Fazlul Huq was reading in his room. His father saw him tearing pages of a book. He entered and said, “O my boy, don’t play with your book.” The boy replied, “I am not playing. I have already gone through these pages.” 

22. Dhaka Board – 2020

Once upon a time, there lived a young man named Androcles. He was caught by a slave merchant who sold him to a rich man. His master was very cruel and inflicted heavy torture on him. One day he fled from his master’s house and took shelter in a cave. In the evening a lion entered the cave. The lion seemed wounded and groaning. He came near Androcles and lifted his paw. Androcles removed a thorn from it, and the lion was relieved.

23. Dinajpur Board – 2020

John Keats was born on October 31, 1795. He was the eldest son of his parents. He lost his father in 1804 and mother in 1810. In 1811, Keats became an apprentice to a surgeon at Edmonton. But his heart was not in medicine; he felt he was born to be a poet. Finally, he left surgery for literature. His finest poems like Ode to a Nightingale and Ode on a Grecian Urn were published in 1820. He met a premature death on February 23, 1821.

A few years back, Nur Banu lost everything to river erosion. Her husband was a farmer, and they became helpless. Yet, Nur Banu did not lose hope and encouraged her husband to stand firm. She had a gold ornament and gave it to her husband to sell. They used the money to build a small shelter and started making Nakshi Kanthas. They both worked hard and made many Kanthas. Nur Banu’s designs were famous for their beauty. Her husband sold them in the market and became solvent.

27. Sylhet Board – 2020

Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918, in South Africa. He joined the African National Congress in 1942. For twenty years, he led a peaceful campaign against the racist policies of the South African government. In 1993, Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, along with President F. W. de Klerk. In 1994, he became South Africa’s first black president. In 2009, his birthday was declared “Mandela Day.” He died in Johannesburg on December 5, 2013, at the age of 95.

The marriage ceremony was over, and the guests were going to the feast. The old sailor sat on a stone outside the church. He saw people walking past him. Suddenly he stopped one of the guests. The old man told him about his last journey. “There was a ship,” the old sailor began. He spoke so strangely that the guest stood still and listened to the story.

34. Jashore Board – 2019

Once there lived a young man named Androcles. Unfortunately, he was caught by a slave merchant. Later, the merchant sold him to a rich man in another country. The man was rude and cruel and used to torture him heavily. It was unbearable for Androcles. To escape the torture, he fled from his master’s house and took shelter in a cave. 

35. Combined Board – 2018

William Somerset Maugham was one of the greatest short-story writers of modern time. He was born in Paris in 1874. Though he was a doctor, he left medicine because it did not attract him. He made his first literary appearance by writing Liza of Lambeth, a realistic story about London’s poor neighborhoods. This work brought him fame. He then wrote a few novels and took to playwriting. Some of his well-known plays are Mrs. Cardillac and Lady Frederick.
